Jordanelle Reservoir is located in a picturesque mountain setting just north of Heber City. The park offers an array of recreational opportunities near the Wasatch Mountains. Two recreation areas on the lake offer camping, picnicking, fishing, boating, water sports, swimming, hiking and mountain biking. Hailstone Campground is located on the west shore of the reservoir just off US Hwy 40 and offers every amenity imaginable. Rock Cliff Campground is more primitive with walk-in campsites and fishing access to the Upper Provo River. This campground is located on the Provo River two miles west of Francis on State Route 32. The park is open year-round and reservations for the campgrounds can be made for the summer season by calling 1-800-322-3770.
Fishing for trout and smallmouth bass is unmatched on Jordanelle Reservoir. The reservoir is also popular for boating, waterskiing and jet-skis. At Hailstone an 80-slip marina has utility hookups, fuel dispensing, a marina store and restaurant. Beaches and cabanas at Hailstone add to the experience. The nearby Provo River both above and below the reservoir offers superb fly fishing. A perimeter trail encircling the reservoir allows hikers, mountain bikers and other non-motorized trail users to connect with the Historic Union Pacific Rail Trail which travels north to Park City and Coalville.
