  Strawberry Reservoir Area Campgrounds

Set in a beautiful high mountain valley, just 23 miles southeast of Heber City, lies Strawberry Reservoir. Famous for record-sized trout and kokanee salmon, this 17,000 acre reservoir is Utah's premiere fishery!

Four developed campgrounds dot the shoreline of Strawberry Reservoir. A total of 571 sites provide family and large group camping for tents or trailers. Full hookups are available at a limited number of sites in Strawberry Bay, reservations are recommended. Adjacent to each campground is a boat ramp, fish cleaning stations and a marina that offers boat rentals, fishing supplies, gasoline and a convenience store. At Strawberry Bay a restaurant and lodge provide additional amenities. Campgrounds are open May through October and reservations are available by calling 1-877-444-6777.

Miles of dirt roads access numerous backcountry areas open for undeveloped camping, although there are restrictions around the reservoir. Inquire at the Strawberry Visitor Center along US Hwy 40 for information on areas open to primitive camping. More information is available on all Heber Ranger District campgrounds from the Heber Ranger District office on US Hwy 40 just east of Heber City, or by calling 435-654-0470.

Strawberry Valley Recreation
Recreation opportunities in Strawberry Valley are limited only by one's imagination. Strawberry Reservoir has long been Utah's top trout fishery and fishing remains the number one activity today. For those who prefer a stream setting, nearby Daniels Creek always promises success. Lower Strawberry River, below the dam, as well as several shallow bays on the reservoir offer excellent fly fishing. Inquire at the visitor center or consult the Utah Fishing Proclamation for regulations on streams and reservoirs.

Strawberry attracts an abundant variety of wildlife during summer months and viewing opportunities abound.

Spend hours on a summer afternoon viewing and photographing the colorful display of wildflowers that dot the hillsides of Strawberry Valley. Hike, ride horses, or mountain bike over miles of mountainous terrain or along the reservoir shoreline. You can always count on the predictable daily winds to glide a sailboat or sailboard across the open waters of the reservoir. Or open up a motorboat's throttle to tour the wide expanses and narrow canyons of Strawberry Reservoir. Miles of dirt roads reveal the secrets of the backcountry to ATV enthusiasts, trail bike riders, and explorers in 4-wheel and 2-wheel drive vehicles. Stop and have a picnic at one of the many day use areas on the shores of the reservoir.

Strawberry Visitor Center is a good stopping point to gather information about activities in the area. Near the visitor center, the Division of Wildlife Resources operates a fish trap where visitors can view the egg-taking process during spring and fall when fish spawn in the Strawberry River. A barrier-free nature trail, adjacent to the visitor center, explains stream ecology and provides visitors with an opportunity to view fish in the stream and the abundant variety of birds that spend their summer in Strawberry Valley.
