The mountains and hillsides surrounding Heber Valley conceal a multitude of great Utah hiking trails through forests and meadows. Several trails make for the perfect day-hike while others are more suitable for an overnight backpack adventure. Terrain varies from a steep climb up Mount Timpanogos to an easy stroll along the shores of Strawberry Reservoir. Mount Timpanogos and the High Uintas are designated wilderness areas. Remember weather in higher elevations can change suddenly and dramatically. Always be prepared with warm clothes, rain gear, plenty of water, high energy food, matches and a first aid kit. Insect repellent is always good to have along. Let someone know where you are going and when you expect to return. Stay on designated trails; avoid cutting across switchbacks which causes erosion. Pack out everything you pack in and do your best to "leave no trace," especially in wilderness areas. For detailed maps and more information, contact Forest Service and State Park offices:
